US: Consumer Confidence improves more than expected in May

FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - US Consumer Confidence surprised to the upside on Tuesday, rising to 76.2 points in May, from 69 points in April, according to data released by the the Conference Board. Market consensus pointed to less increase to 71 points.

According to the ANZ Research Team, “The near test of the NZD/USD target of 0.80 (hit 0.8005) may provide scope for some consolidation, but the bias remains for a deeper flush towards 0.7925.”

The US Richmond Fed Manufacturing Index rose to -2 points in May from -6 points registered the previous month, the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond informed today. Economists projected a rise to 2 points.
