US stocks eased earlier gains and closed negative; EUR/USD below 1.30

FXStreet (San Francisco) - Wall Street closed negative as stocks fade late in the day ahead of Friday's employment report. The S&P 500 logged its first 3-day lost streak in 3 months. The EUR/USD fell below 1.3000 for first time since July 2013.

The Dow Jones declined 8.70 points or 0.05% to finish at 17,069.58; the S&P 500 lost 3.07 pts or 0.15% to close at 1,997.65; the Nasdaq Composite eased 10.28 pts or 0.22% to 4,562.29.

AUD/USD retreats to 0.9350

The aussie and the US dollar were among the best performers in the currency market on Thursday. During the European session AUD/USD soared to 0.9391, hitting a 5-week high but then lost momentum and pulled back toward 0.9350, erasing gains.

EUR/JPY posts lowest close since November

The EUR/JPY bounced sharply on Thursday and fell 230 pips from daily highs at 138.00 and bottomed at 135.95.
